The Aesir are the leading race of gods in Asgard. Odin and his brothers who slew Ymir were Aesir and most of the important gods descended from them. As gods who know they will die one day, they are hot-blooded and live life with passion. Honor is also very important to them. At their best they are noble; but sometimes they sink into a narcissistic enjoyment of their own power.
Aesir have a style of magic unique to them: Galdr (runic magic). Galdr works differently than all other magic in the game. Each Galdr represents a specific spell formula and must be learned on its own. It may be invoked easily and repeatedly. (If other styles of magic were likened to the art of cooking, galdr might be likened to using a recipe precisely.) An Aesir who takes three ranks in a galdr, may gain a specialization (which is a kind of advanced galdr of a similar type).
In addition, Aesir characters may choose from one of the following special abilities:
Character is the god of something useful but not overly impressive. Examples might include The God of First Kisses, the Goddess of Brewing Mead or Baking Bread, the Goddess of Protecting Virgins, The God of Bow-Making. The narrator and the player will have to work out the specifics and figure out how to have fun with them in particular situations.
Character is an Aeisr woman who is one of the choosers of the slain. She is especially acquainted with the ways of fate (the weavings of the norns). She may use her Luck Tokens to change combat rolls for any character in a battle (not just rolls involving her). She gains a free level one Galdr: “Summon Spirit of the Dead”) and +2 in the Skill of Crafting (Spinning & Weaving).
Gain +1 Strength.
